AMERICAN METAL DETECTING ASSOCIATION

NOTICE

March 2, 2009

We regret to announce that due to unsatisfactory field conditions and higher insurance premium rates, AMDA will NOT be holding hunts this year at the PRIMM 2009 – GPAA Gold Show, to be held April 25 & 26, 2009! This Notice applies only to Primm! No decisions at this time have been made concerning other hunts scheduled or contemplated by AMDA.

Please pass on the information to your metal detecting friends and local club members who may be interested in attending an event that AMDA has supported in the past.

AMDA’s Huntmaster - Bernard Grabowski has informed its Chairperson that he is retiring March 15th, 2009, from the State of California, and is looking forward to more free time to devote to future hunts and other activities that AMDA will support. If you have any questions or comments, please call him at (916) 635-6854 or email him at: BGG589@AOL.COM.

OTHER UPCOMING HUNTS AND EVENTS

The Hunt & Events page will be the web page where you can learn about hunts that AMDA will hold, be associated with, as well as other detecting events you may be interested in attending. AMDA hunts are “open” to anyone who can swing a detector, pay the hunt fees, unless otherwise restricted by our Hunt Master. To encourage membership, AMDA members enjoy reduced hunt fees from non-members who wish to hunt. These requirements, however, may not apply to other detecting organizational events that may be advertised, so be sure to check with their hunt master before making plans to attend. While we support our members and other detectorists to compete in other club hunts being offered, we are a separate entity and are not affiliated with any other organization but AMDA, unless stated in the flyer.

LAUGHLIN 2009!

AMDA’s Annual Rendezvous & Treasure Hunt Weekend for 2009 is tentatively scheduled for October 23, 24, and 25, 2009, in Laughlin, Nevada, subject to approval by the Clark County Chamber of Commerce. The hunt site again is located at the corner of Woodbury and Thomas Edison Drives, in Laughlin, approximately ½ miles West of Casino Drive. Watch this webpage for the hunt flyer that you will be able to download and more details as we approach hunt time. The Colorado River Treasure Seekers (CRTS) based out of Bullhead City, Arizona, have graciously volunteered again to support our hunts by preparing the field and planting the coins.

AMDA’s staff will seek out local hobbyists for field support to limit travel expenses when needed. Our thanks go to those hobbyists who do support our events. AMDA is a service and non-profit organization that operates for the enjoyment of the hobby in metal detecting across the country. We hope you and your friends will continue to support us. Please contact us, if you have further questions.

WORD TO THE WISE: Because of the current instability of our US economy, we suggest you take out trip cancellation insurance, in the event AMDA has to change, alter, or cancel an activity.

Thank you,

Carolyn Garrett, AMDA’s Chairperson
