Code of Conduct

1. All members will act as ambassadors for our great hobby, using courtesy, thoughtfulness, and consideration at all times.

2. We recommend that you ask for permission to detect, including schools, parks, abandoned buildings, land, to determine if public or privately owned. Some cities or counties require a permit. Refer to the local or state Parks and Recreation Department, the nearest Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM), US Forest Service or any other governing body for more information and the proper permits, if required.

3. Fill all holes that you dig, including on any beach, both in the sand or in the surf.

4. Always be “fire conscious” and put dead cigarette butts in a plastic bag in apron.

5. Remove any trash that you have dug up and properly dispose of it in a proper receptacle. Do not rebury the trash that you uncovered!

6. Help to educate those new to the hobby, as well as the general public, on the do’s and don’ts of metal detecting to include where they can or cannot detect.

7. Show new hobbyists the proper techniques in retrieving objects from the ground.

8. Alert the proper authorities of any firearms or possibly dangerous objects you find. Do not try to remove them yourself!
